Shark Racing's Schuchart Finishes Sixth in Feature
While Allen Leads All the Way in the B-Main
In Labor Day WoO Action at Grays Harbor Raceway

ELMA, Wash., Sept. 2 - Shark Racing's Logan Schuchart finished sixth in the A-main and his teammate Jacob Allen won the B-main in their first appearances at Grays Harbor Raceway ever Monday night in World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series action.

Schuchart started fourth in the 30-lap, 24-car A-main and ran as high as third, as he passed Cody Darrah for that position about the same time as eventual winner Donny Schatz was taking the lead from Steve Kinser. Darrah passed Schuchart back on the following lap, however. Daryn Pittman also got around him working lap 17 to push him to fifth, and both Shane Stewart and Kerry Madsen got by shortly thereafter.

Brad Sweet spun low in Turn 2 with 22 laps down to bring out the race's only yellow flag. Schuchart was seventh for the restart, but it only took him a few minutes to pass Madsen back. That pair battled to the checkered, with Schuchart finishing in sixth place, 1.210 seconds behind Stewart and 0.572 of a second ahead of Madsen.

"It was pretty good," Schuchart said afterwards of the feature, the highlight of] the Lucky Eagle Outlaw Invasion. "I couldn't move the wing back to adjust it the way I wanted to until the yellow came out, which is why I fell back a little. After I made that adjustment, we ran better.

"This is only my third night with an XXX Chassis, and I like it," he added, speaking of his new chassis from Triple X Race Components of Burlington, Wash.  "It felt good tonight, and hopefully we'll do even better as I get more used to it. We didn't have time to get Jacob's finished yet, but he should have one next week too."

Allen started 18th. He fell back to 21st initially, but he worked his way back up the running order, passing Reece Goetz for 19th place working lap nine. He got 18th working lap 15 by passing Matt Jensen, and then he set his sights on Jason Sides. Unfortunately he didn't finish, dropping out with 24 laps complete when he suspected his car was developing engine problems. Luckily the fuel line just came off and the Don Ott-prepared engine is fine.

If the feature didn't go as well as Allen had hoped, he was the star of the show a little earlier in the B-main. He started second and led all 12 laps. He had a 1.673-second advantage over Jensen at the checkered flag.

Schuchart qualified fifth out of 27 drivers in time trials, which put him in the dash. He started fourth and ran fourth in all six laps of that race, taking the checkered flag 1.918 seconds after Schatz did and 0.679 of a second before Daryn Pittman crossed the line.

Both Shark Racing drivers were in the second heat, which was delayed a bit until the sun set since it was blinding drivers who were in the first heat. Schuchart started third and finished fifth, while Allen both started and finished in seventh place.
